Quo vadis ars?

In zahlreichen Interviews, Corona-Tagebüchern, Kommentaren und Berichten wurde in den letzten Wochen die Situation der Kulturbranche beschrieben und diskutiert. Unsere kommentierte Sammlung von mittlerweile 193 Quellen versammelt Stimmen aus unterschiedlichen Sparten und Medien. So entsteht ein Bild der Kulturlandschaft in der Krise, deren zeitliche Wandlung interaktiv über eine eigene Tag-Cloud erdkundet werden kann.

Hatten die Theater mit der Ankündigung eines Lockdown light im November noch gehofft, bald wieder öffnen zu können, so scheint aktuell der Termin einer Aufnahme des Spielbetriebs in weite Ferne gerückt. Haben viele Häuser im November und Dezember noch an neuen Inszenierungen gearbeitet, ist der Probenbetrieb nun weitgehend eingestellt. Die Frustration in den Ensembles nimmt zu, ist doch noch weniger als im Frühjahr absehbar, wann die Rückkehr zu einem normalen Betrieb möglich ist. Wie zu Beginn der Spielzeit im Herbst kann das Publ ikum dann mit einem Premierenreigen rechnen, denn die neuen Inszenierungen warten nur darauf, gezeigt zu werden. Bis dahin ist an den Häusern einerseits Krisenmanagement gefragt, was – so die Aussage vieler Intendanten – grundsätzlich zu ihrem Alltagsgeschäft gehört. Andererseits stellt Nicolas Stemann vom Schauspielhaus Zürich die berechtigte Frage, ob man weiterhin mit einem Theater-Repertoire-Betrieb planen kann oder ob die Häuser die aktuell Situation nicht nutzen sollten, um neue Formate und eine neue Art der künstlerischen Tätigkeit auszuprobieren.

Das Team

Facing arts ist ein Projekt von STORM.

STORM spielt als Akronym mit den Namen Miriam Seidler und Tim Otto Roth, die wie viele anderen Freischaffende von der Corona-Krise betroffen sind. Miriam Seidler ist promovierte Literaturwissenschaftlerin. Sie publizierte u.a. ein Übersichtswerk zum Alter in der zeitgenössischen Literatur und ist Herausgeberin der Buchreihe Ästhetische Signaturen. Neben ihrer freien wissenschaftlichen Forschung arbeitet sie aktuell als Lektorin und Fachfrau für Öffentlichkeitsarbeit. Tim Otto Roth ist promovierter Kunst- und Wissenschaftshistoriker, Konzeptkünstler und Komponist. In seiner künstlerischen Arbeit ist er vor allem bekannt durch Großprojekte im öffentlichen Raum, Kooperationen mit führenden Wissenschaftseinrichtungen und seine immersiven Licht- und Klanginstallationen.
Miriam Seidler und Tim Otto Roth arbeiten schon seit vielen Jahren immer wieder in unterschiedlichen Projekten zusammen. Neben gemeinsam kuratierten Ausstellungen hat Miriam Seidler das Projektmanagement für Roths immersive Licht- und Klanginstallation [aiskju:b] und die Pressearbeit für verschiedene Projekte übernommen. Mit facing arts realisieren sie ihr erstes künstlerisches Werk.
